SAFE SPACE
A place to share your story. Because sticks, stones, and words all hurt.
Are you going through a separation, divorce, or a difficult co-parenting situation? Are you the child of parents in a “high conflict” relationship? Is Family Court hurting your family and not helping? Are psychologists, attorneys, mediators, doing things that are contrary to your child’s best interests?
As dedicated as we are to the field of psychology and our practice, we are also aware of the many situations now in which professionals assigned to help families, “don’t get it” and end up doing more harm than good to children.
As licensed mental health professionals, we work with many children and families in the midst of difficult situations. But regardless of your circumstances, NO ONE has the right to demean you physically, mentally, or verbally. Unfortunately, verbal abuse and coercive control are often missed in our family court system.
That’s why we are working to create awareness for family court professionals: kids are being harmed by the game of family court.
This is a SAFE SPACE for individuals – parents and children – to anonymously share their experiences. If you have had a bad experience in family court where abuse was missed, have been shamed, or otherwise demeaned – we invite you to share your story, anonymously. If we share your story on our forum to help court professionals learn how to more accurately help families, we will make a $25 personal donation to our own non-profit, DC Children’s Institute.
Words may hurt us, but they will not break us. Together, we can be stronger and protect children everywhere.
